Jamie Pagan is promoted by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group

The former senior director of spa and wellness at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, Jamie Pagan has been promoted to area director of spa and wellness for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group (MOHG).

Having worked within the wellness industry for more than 30 years, Pagan’s career has seen him head up first the club and then later the spa at Gleneagles.

He then moved into spa operations for ESPA, working as an integral part of the brand’s international consultancy team.

A spa veteran

Before moving to Mandarin Oriental, Pagan was spa director at The Grove.

Since joining The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park he has supported the relaunch in 2019 and is now working with with the pre-opening team for The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair.

Pagan has also recently been named as a board member for the UK Spa Association.

"Jamie joined Mandarin Oriental almost four years ago to relaunch the Spa at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park after renovation, and has gone on to establish our spa as a market leader."

Speaking exclusively to European Spa, Jeremey McCarthy, director of spa and wellness, MOHG, said: “In 2021, Jamie assumed the role of senior spa director and also took on the oversight of strategic direction for the new Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair.

“In this new role, Jamie will continue to serve as director of spa and wellness, overseeing Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London and Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair.

“He will also act as an extension of the corporate team, to help us better support our expanding collection of hotels, resorts and spas across Europe.”

Urban spa chic

MOHG’s highly-anticipated Mayfair property is expected to open in London’s iconic Hanover Square later this year.

Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners to be a ‘discreet, sleek and intimate’ sister property to Hyde Park, the new urban spa will offer bespoke wellness treatments and feature a 25-metre indoor pool, a vitality pool, a sauna, a relaxation room and several treatment rooms.

Changes in the Middle East

Sara Codner has also recently been promoted to area director of spa and wellness.

“Sara has been a part of our team for more than 10 years, beginning with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou and most recently Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai,” said McCarthy.

“She has led one of our flagship wellness offerings to much success and, in this new role, Sara will be working closely with the corporate team to support our fast-growing portfolio  in the Middle East.”
