Hans-Peter Viet appointed director of spa and recreation at Appenzeller Huss

Role will see the industry veteran develop and manage the new wellness facilities at this new Swiss spa

Hans-Peter Veit has been appointed director of spa and recreation at Appenzeller Huss in Switzerland.  The Appenzeller Huus hotel resort, which includes two new three-star hotels that opened in 2023, will open the five-star Hotel Huus Quell in early 2025.

The new role will see the industry veteran develop and manage the wellness concept of the new hotel which is based on mindfulness and slowing down.

Preventative medical wellness

The spa will take a holistic, preventative medical wellness approach with a focus on sustainable health and relaxation.

“It is a great honour for me to be part of this unique project! The owner, Jan Schoch, is a visionary and is realising a spa here in Appenzell that will be second to none,” said Veit.

Veit joins this project from Grand Resort Bad Ragaz where he led the team as director of spa and wellbeing for many years. During his time at the renowned spa, he won several awards.

High-tech wellness centre at Appenzeller Huus

The new spa and wellness area has been designed by Goco Hospitality.

Inspired by the four elements of mountains, lakes, forest and canyon, the unique property is part of the new five-star wellness hotel Quell in Appenzell, which will open in spring 2025.

Three floors of wellbeing

Set over three floors and 2,200sqm, the property will include cutting-edge technology, a spectacular rooftop pool and saunas, and offer traditional treatments.

With 12 treatment rooms, the wellness centre will also feature biohacking, cold therapy, an oxygen chamber and many other state-of-the-art treatments.

Wellness expertise

Veit’s career began in 1999 as a personal coach at Brenner’s Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden, Germany, catering to esteemed clients like members of the royal family of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain,and Jordan.

Progressing from personal trainer to spa manager in 2004, he took on the role of director of spa development for the Oetker Collection in 2009.

During his time, he oversaw the launch of significant projects globally, including the acclaimed Villa Stéphanie in Baden-Baden.

After 17 years with the business, he moved to the iconic Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken before joining Grand Resort Bad Ragaz.
