Global Wellness Day (GWD) took place on Saturday, June 8, marking the event’s 13th anniversary. This year’s celebration was reportedly celebrated by a record-breaking one billion people worldwide.

The annual event, which was founded by Belgin Aksoy in 2012, celebrates wellbeing and health.

It encouarges free wellness activities across the globe, under Aksoy’s guiding principle ‘one day can change your whole life’.

"In its 13th year, GWD was celebrated by approximately a billion people around the world. I’m always jubilant and grateful after each GWD as my heart connects to people around the world."

Belgin Aksoy

Founder, Global Wellness Day

The 2024 Global Wellness Day was themed #MagentaNature and emphasised the crucial relationship between nature, humanity and wellbeing.

Spa and hospitality operators around the world took park. Each adhered to the event’s three main pillars: events must be educational, non-commercial and complimentary.

The #MagentaNature theme encouraged participants to embrace the transformative power of harmonising with the environment.

“Connecting with nature is not just an activity; it’s a way of thinking,” said Aksoy. “Those who choose to live well come to realise that connecting with nature is also a way of life.

“GWD is a call to action, an invitation for individuals to actively participate in their own wellbeing and contribute to a harmonious relationship with the world around us.”
