Spa booking and experience agency Spabreaks.com has launched its Real Men Relax campaign.

Featuring local champions from across the country, who each star alongside leading Gallagher Premiership rugby players, the campaign launches in line with Men’s Health Week.

It’s aim is to highlight the benefits of spa to men of all trades and backgrounds.

The driving force behind the campaign is to remove the stigma around men visiting spas, so more of them experience the proven benefits spas can have on physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Tony Lane, famed for serving David Beckham pie, mash and jellied eels from his cockney hotspot, Tony’s Pie and Mash, is among the local champions.

He stars alongside Gallagher Premiership top try scorer and Harlequins winger Cadan Murley.

“Pace and strength are focal points of my game; I need to be able to recover quickly to maximise performance. Spa days are pivotal to my conditioning; I use massage, steam and plunge baths as an important part of my routine,” said Murley.

“For far too long the spa has been considered a female-only environment. It’s absolutely time we break that stigma."

Other local champions include fisherman David Wright from Scarborough, farmer Seb Green from Bristol, electrician David Marriott from Nottingham and Kent carpenter Alan Ring.

The local champions appear alongside former England rugby international Delon Armitage, Sale Sharks winger Sam James, London Irish backrow Tom Pearson and Gloucester players Harry Elrington and Henry Purdy.

“There is a huge role for spa to play in the lives of all men from mental, physical wellbeing to rehabilitation and beyond,” said UKSA chairperson Abi Selby, founder of Spabreaks.com.

“A recent report by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Beauty and Wellbeing (APPG) suggests the use of spa and associated complimentary theories could significantly support the NHS and reduce doctor visits by up to 37%.

“I think men feel enormous pressure to push through when they’re struggling. While it’s not the solution to all things, taking time to relax – not just doing nothing, but proactively doing things to relax the body and its corresponding impact on mental and emotional health – can make a huge difference.

“We have launched the Real Men Relax campaign to get men across the UK in the spa and experiencing the benefits for themselves.”

Spabreaks.com is offering a wider range of deals and offers aimed at men as part of the Real Men Relax campaign.
