Six Senses has appointed 40-year international hospitality veteran Neil Palmer as its new chief operating officer.

Palmer’s experience includes a 25-year stint at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he served as senior vice-president, operations, Asia Pacific, developing the company’s hotel portfolio and overseeing the pre-opening hotel pipeline for the region.

In his new role, which will see him relocate from New Zealand to Singapore, Palmer will be responsible for Six Senses’ growing portfolio of spas, resorts and hotels in 20 countries, as well as the 34 properties that are currently in development.

Following his departure from Starwood, Palmer became CEO and co-owner of Per AQUUM Retreats & Resorts and held the post of CEO at Elements HSC, a global hospitality consultancy and asset management firm that he co-founded.

A Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality UK and a graduate from London’s Westminster Hotel School, he is a firm believer in learning and development, stating that they should be “constant in life”.

“Over the past few years, I’ve observed with admiration the development of Six Senses,”  said Palmer. “I believe there remains a massive opportunity in the industry space where Six Senses already plays a leading role – there is truly no better brand positioned to lead the way forward.”
