Murrayshall Country Estate in Scone, Perthshire, has announced a £30 million masterplan to diversify the estate, which includes new spa and leisure facilities.

Plans, which have been submitted to Perth and Kinross Council, also include luxury holiday lodges. Estate owners, Stellar Murrayshall LLP, hope to extend the four-star hotel and also to include solar panel sites.

The spa element of the plans will total a £15 million investment.

Investment for diversification into spa and leisure

Gary Silcock, general manager for Murrayshall Country Estate, says: “This is an exciting time as we progress with our long-term aspirations for the Estate, which will ultimately help grow and sustain the business for years to come.

“We remain confident that the £30 million investment for the diversification of Murrayshall will have a positive effect on the local economy.”

If all goes according to schedule, it is hoped the leisure club and spa will open in 2025.

The existing Murrayshall Hotel

Built in 1664, Murrayshall dates back more than 400 years and sits within 365 acres of grounds, encompassing woodland, the River Tay, two parkland golf courses and stately gardens.

Earlier this summer, the estate launched a selection of onsite outdoor leisure pursuits as well as spa treatments in the newly refurbished Gate House.

The Gate House features a treatment room and lounge area, and work on a second treatment room is currently underway.

There is a lounge area for relaxing as well as the opportunity to have drinks served while waiting for a treatment.

Outdoor leisure pursuits

The hotel has purchased ten bicycles, including mountain and e-bikes, which guests can hire by the hour, half-day or day to roam around the estate. Two new exercise bikes and a treadmill are also available for in-room fitness.

The hotel has teamed up with Willowgate Activity Centre to offer axe throwing and laser clay shooting.

A Fitness and Wellbeing Weekend is planned for September 9-10in collaboration with Club 300 Perth. Guests will enjoy a 5km trail run through the Murrayshall estate, a mountain bike tour, team games and yoga.
