Luxury Scottish resort Fairmont St Andrews has announced it is partnering with ESPA to offer the brand’s new Modern Alchemy treatments.

Designed to restore peace, power and balance, each Modern Alchemy treatment is said to combine ancient ancestral wisdom with potent ingredients and self-care rituals.

The rituals draw on a range of ancient techniques and global traditions to meet the modern wellness needs of guests today.

Fairmont Spa is offering two Modern Alchemy rituals – Harmonising and Empowering – both 90 minutes in duration.

Influenced by the power and symbolism of the full moon, the Harmonising Ritual offers a deeply meditative journey defined by the fluid circular massage movements.

The treatment uses ESPA’s Anointing Oil and a Kansa wand. The ritual includes breathwork and a foot bathing ceremony.

The Empowering Ritual is influenced by the symbolism of the new moon, a lunar phase representing an awakening of the spirit.

It includes swift massage movements flowing from left to right to balance the body’s energy centres.

Inspired by Ayurvedic healing, Chinese Medicine and shamanic practices, ESPA Modern Alchemy rituals seek to incorporate every aspect of wellbeing from guests’ emotions and moods to the spiritual.

Techniques used in the Modern Alchemy rituals include jade rollers, foot bathing, crystals and moonstones as well as Yantra Cards to help guests set intentions for the treatment.

Yantras are ancient geometrical patterns that are said to represent different forms of divinity.

Contemplation and meditation on them is believed to have the power to offer transformational change.

Earlier this year, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announces a fifth hotel in the UK and Ireland with the signing of The Mere in partnership with Select Group.
