IHG has revealed a reimagining of the Regent brand, with the introduction of a new global wellness concept designed to help elevate guests ‘above the noise’.

The Regent Spa & Wellness concept has been developed by IHG’s team of wellness experts and Raison d’Etre consultancy.

The concept will feature in select Regent hotels and resorts, with the global debut at Regent Bali Canggu in Indonesia.

Future openings will follow within the next five years in Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur and Kyoto. Each will demonstrate a unique interpretation of the Regent Spa & Wellness concept.

“Regent Spa and Wellness turns traditional spas on their head. We believe that when the mind is stilled, the senses awaken; in this amplified state, guests can feel more, experience deeper and leave truly transformed.”

The journey begins by resetting the guests’ state, then elevating each sense, said Anna-Cari Gund, managing director, Raison d’Etre

“Gone are traditional neutral pallets, candled corridors and run of the mill relaxation rooms. In their place, there are colourful palettes, visual art paths and energy baths. Our aim is to bring energy to our guests with mystical, otherworldly spaces and therapeutic experiences that follow an intelligent formula.

“We want guests to feel as though they are entering a whole new dimension, which feels secretive, mystical and elegant. One where they feel more, sense more and experience more.”

Rising above the noise

“Wellbeing is increasingly integral to how and why we travel. Through Regent Spa & Wellness, we are introducing new ways for our guests to optimise how they feel,” added Tom Rowntree, vice-president of global luxury brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“I am excited by the power this new concept has to deepen the outlook we share – that life is at its best when we rise above the noise – in Bali and beyond.”

Inside the new concept

The new concept is grounded in sensorial wellbeing, created to help guests present the very best version of themselves though treatments and practices.

The experience begins with ‘A Secret Arrival’, a dramatic entrance within an otherworldly environment. This first impression sets the tone for the journey ahead, where each step unfolds gradually and with intention.

The entrance to every spa will feature octagons, as the shape is said to represent rebirth and eternal life, and maximises energy flow.

Regent Spa & Wellness’s three-step treatment journey begins with the Reset, a signature meditative sound therapy, experienced within pod-like private waiting areas, to guide guests into a state of surrender.

At Regent Bali Canggu, the Reset takes place within traditional wooden Balinese-style cabanas. It is soundtracked by a unique open-eyes, self-guided meditation and sound experience by OPO Studios.

Treatments then combine healing gemstones, aromas, light frequencies and vibrating crystal energy to intentionally foster a connection to the self.

A Gentle Reawakening concludes treatments before the guest transitions into the Relax Dome.

Beauty of Contrasts

The Regent Spa & Wellness concept draws inspiration from Raison d’Etre’s Beauty of Contrasts principle, in which the opposing yet complementary forces of yin and yang are key to programming, colours, materials and temperatures.

“Finding the balance between active and passive provides a secret to reaching higher levels of wellbeing,” explained Gund. “Yin and yang do not exist outside of each other, but rather they reside within each other and must be kept in proper balance.

“This means, if there is yin, there is always yang and neither exist alone. This sentiment mirrors how we have approached wellness for Regent.”

The seven treatment room spa at Regent Bali Canggu has a vitality pool, ice baths, saunas and a gym and a mat-based studio.

Signature treatments at the first Regent Spa & Wellness include the Massage Revolution, performed on a warm quartz sand bed from Gharieni, and the Healing Zen, which aligns rhythmic touch, conscious breath and warm stones.

The Facial Revolution uses a fusion of botanical actives from Kerstin Florian, amplified with LED light therapy and EMS technologies.

“One of the elements that sets us apart is our Reset pod experience before each treatment,” said Tanisha Lo, director of spa at Regent Spa & Wellness, Regent Bali Canggu. “We believe that when the mind is stilled, guests can feel and experience more, extending the impact of the treatment far beyond the spa itself.”

Regent Hotels opening pipeline

Regent Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will open later this year with a 1,500sqm Regent Spa.

Regent Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia will follow in 2027, with a Regent Spa suspended in the sky on the 31st floor. Regent Kyoto in Japan will open in 2028, set within a historic garden.

Not all Regent properties are adopting the new concept, but IHG’s long-term ambition is for the concept to be a defining element of the brand.

The Regent portfolio includes 11 hotels and resorts with a further 11 openings in the pipeline.
