ESPA launches RecycleMe scheme

ESPA has introduced its RecycleMe scheme, enabling customers to return plastic packaging from their used beauty products, from any beauty brand, to be recycled for free.

Part of a wider sustainability programme, the new initiative allows customers to return any delivery packaging, such as the void filler pillow and hard-to-recycle plastics.

This 360-degree approach to the lifecycle of product packaging aims to reduce landfill and reuse and recycle plastic for products that were previously thought to be unrecyclable.

ESPA’s recycling scheme is being supported by Storm Board, which turns plastic waste into a weather- proof alternative to plywood, and plastics engineering specialists Protomax Plastics Ltd.

What can be recycled?

Customers can return any plastic beauty packaging with the RecycleMe Scheme, irrespective of the brand. This includes lids, pumps, tubes, bottles, pouches, sachets, wraps, trays and containers.

Customers can register for the scheme by entering their information and order number into the online recycling portal to generate a QR code for returns, which can be processed at a courier pick-up point.

Once received at the warehouse, all of the returned plastic will be separated and repurposed through the partnership with Storm Board and Protomax Plastics.

The RecycleMe Scheme is currently available in the UK only.
