ishga, the luxury seaweed skincare brand based in the Outer Hebrides, recently welcomed Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal to its headquarters on the Isle of Lewis.

The Princess Royal’s visit provided an opportunity for ishga to demonstrate the business’s growth and explain the brand’s history and role in the spa and wellness market.

The brand’s natural, results-driven products and professional spa treatments are found in some of the UK’s leading spas including Glasgow’s Kimpton Blythswood Square, Fairmont St Andrews, the Dorchester and Coworth Park in Berkshire.

The history of seaweed

The visit included a discussion about the history of seaweed on the island, its potent skincare benefits and how ishga sustainably harvests this unique ingredient from the pure pristine waters of the islands. The brand has won a multitude of awards for its products including a Marie Claire awards for the best natural formula.

Exploring the manufacturing side of the business, Her Royal Highness saw the production process and was invited to add the unique seaweed extract into a batch of ishga’s Anti-oxidant Marine Cream.
