The four-star Quay Hotel in Conwy has opened a new 580sqm spa.

Following a £1m renovation, the new spa offers a wellness thermal area, centred around a large swimming pool and adjoining vitality pool, supplied by DaleSauna and Pro Build.

The pool is surrounded by day beds and heated seats. Lighting in the pool area is low and blue-toned, to remind guests just how close they are to the surrounding water.

The hotel overlooks the Deganwy Marina and the Conwy estuary, enabling guests to combine the benefits of the sea air with warm and welcoming indoor spa experiences.

“With the addition of the new spa at The Quay, the resort offers a complete experience for guests,” said Brid Adams, general manager of the Quay Hotel and Spa.

“It’s a place to unwind, relax, take a break from the world and enjoy a luxury spa experience, with a spectacular view of Conwy Castle.”

Facilities at the Spa at the Quay

The wellness suite is made up of a Himalayan salt sauna, infrared sauna and an aromatic steam room, as well as a traditional dry heat sauna.

Wet facilities include an experience shower and an expansive foot bath area where guests can soothe tired feet after visiting the nearby national parks in Snowdonia and  Anglesey.

Upstairs there is a new spa café serving nutritious dishes and traditional Welsh afternoon teas and a relaxation room.

In eight new treatment rooms, a selection of Oskia face and body treatments are available. As well as the brand’s bespoke Radiance Renewal Facial, the Quay Spa will offer Oskia’s bespoke warm oil Luxe Face and Body Fusion treatment.

Oskia’s head of spa, Holly Webster, said this treatment involves therapists using their forearms rather than just their hands, to help smooth away guest tensions.

“Oskia’s training always emphasises therapist comfort and longevity,” said Webster. “In this treatment, we ensure therapists are taught how to use their forearms rather than their hands.

“This allows them to increase massage pressure and tension relief, without causing them any undue strain.”

The spa is working with software provider Trybe for its booking system and the hotel has been able to recruit a further two leisure staff members as well as taking on two spa apprentices.

The Quay Hotel team are keen to continue to work on giving young, local people the opportunity to grow their career in hospitality and spa.

The 80-bedroom property is privately owned by the career hotelier, Tony Troy.
