Six Senses opens urban spa retreat in Istanbul

A new urban spa has opened at the Six Senses Kocatas Mansions resort in Istanbul, Turkey.

Billed as an ‘urban haven of healing’, the 1,500sqm spa is set inside a 100-year-old restored stone house and features five treatment rooms as well as a Holistic Anti-Ageing Centre.

Three hammams, two saunas, two steam rooms, an open-plan relaxation area and retail boutique, as well as a Pilates studio, nail bar and Alchemy Bar complete the spa offering.

Powered by French skincare brand Biologique Recherche and Australian Ayurvedic aromatherapy brand Subtle Energies, the treatment menu offers a host of experiences including personalised facials and authentic hammam experiences delivered by local hammam experts.

Other treatments include body rituals, massages and hair and beauty services. 

The restoration was carried out by Istanbul-based architecture firm, EMR Architecture and interiors were created by Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu, while the Beirut-based DAR Design managed the spa interiors.

Inspired by the tiles in iconic Istanbul landmark, the imperial Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, the spa’s treatment rooms were finished with blue-tiled walls and red line details to pay homage to Turkish culture, while the hammams feature decorated glass panels to let in delight, offering a glimpse of the Bosphorus river. 

“This spa is a magical place for guests and members alike. After months of anticipation, we’ve opened our doors and completed the resort’s identity,” said spa director Sündüz Ediz Kibar.

“Our passionate team will be working to create out of the ordinary guest experiences and immersive wellness programming and retreats.”
