Sue Harmsworth MBE has been announced as the keynote speaker at Irish Spa Association’s spring/summer networking event.

Taking place on May 24 at Hayfield Manor in Co Cork from 11am to 3pm, the gathering is expected to be a huge draw for members and spa professionals in Ireland.

Harmsworth will lead a thought-provoking conversation about the industry, its evolution into integrative wellbeing and the role that operators and professionals need to take in attracting and retaining spa therapists.

She will also discuss the SATCC, the Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care, offering an insight into the work of the body in the UK and Ireland, especially how it is working to align spas and therapists with excellence in accredited training, insurance support and consumer outreach.

This leads on from the work that Christine Clinton, founder of Wellness for Life!, has done in this area of training.

Melissa Jones, general manager, the Irish Spa Association, said: “Thanks to the brilliant work of Christine Clinton, Ireland has moved into one of the fastest growing regions in Europe to make massage safe, effective and accessible for those living with and beyond cancer.”

“At the Irish Spa Association event I will be introducing the work of the SATCC, which currently has 20 accounts in Ireland and over 400 in total. It’s an important time as we have just achieved charitable status for the SATCC.”
