Studio Apostoli to create nature-inspired spa at Silo Ridge Field Club, New York

A new member’s-only spa designed by Studio Apostoli,is set to open at the Silo Ridge Field Club, a gated community and private members club in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Shin Rin Spa has been described as an ‘avant garde wellness centre’, and will take a holistic approach to wellness, combining alternative medicine practices with meditation and physical activity.

Designed to blend in with the surrounding nature, the spa will consist of several stilted structures with floor-to-ceiling windows and glass partitions flowing seamlessly into the landscape. The interiors, described as ‘streamlined and contemporary’, will combine natural materials and warm, soft lighting.

“The project features a series of apparently scattered structures, enriched by numerous architectural innovations which come together to create a spontaneous and authentic environment, where the unconventional arrangement of small buildings on stilts conveys a sensation of pure wellness,” said design studio lead and founder Alberto Apostoli. 

Its layout, designed by Apostoli himself, will be split into two macro areas dedicated to wellness and fitness, with each offering both indoor and outdoor spaces to emphasise the connection with the landscape. 

“The playful idea of ​​being able to move among the trees, in nature and in a space where you can enjoy the fusion of nature wellbeing and indoor wellbeing is the essence of the project,” Apostoli told European Spa.

The wellness area will include both men and women’s spa areas and feature nine treatment suites, including five outdoor treatment cabins, as well as a dedicated meditation space. 

It will also offer a host of thermal experiences including sensory showers, hammams and glazed saunas offering spectacular views across the valley. 

The spa’s treatment menu will include a wide range of experiences drawing on elements such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, massage and meditation, while several pools and relaxation areas will complete the wellness offering.

A fitness area will consist of a gym, a yoga pavilion, a movement studio and a service area with changing rooms. 

“Shin Rin Spa will add to the club’s concept of American wellness culture that embraces diverse disciplines and cultures in harmony with nature,” Apostoli added. 

Owned by Discovery Land Company (DLC), Silo Ridge Field Club is described as the ‘perfect place to rediscover nature and physical and spiritual wellness’. 

The resort, forming part of DLC’s network of branded lifestyle communities, offers 300 residences spread across 850 acres of preserved landscape in upstate New York. It offers various outdoor pursuits such as hiking, archery, clay shooting, horse riding, fishing, ice skating and water sports.
