We visit the Greenhouse Spa at The Elms Hotel in Worcestershire, UK

The Elms Hotel is a luxury hotel and spa retreat nestled in the rolling Worcestershire countryside. The property boasts 23 modern bedrooms and suites, and an award-winning spa.

Following a 12-month, £2 million refurbishment project, the spa reopened in 2021. Since that time the team has partnered with onejourney to improve its online booking strategy. This has seen a 20% increase in average order value for bookings.

The Greenhouse Spa

The refurbishment project, overseen by Darron Woore at Focus Interior Design, has created a unique spa experience. Its botanical theme offers a calming journey for guests, with views across the terraced lawns and the outdoor spa area.

Expect an indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy pool, soothing sauna with garden views, botanical lounge area, and a delightful swimming pool. The pool boasts high, vaulted wooden ceilings in an atrium style room with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Cosy spaces

Cosy nooks and hidden spaces offer a cocooning experience that is expertly designed with natural tones. Comfortable furniture and fabrics, reclaimed timber and cane furniture create a distinct look. Treatment rooms and the relaxation area on the top floor continue this theme, creating a relaxed vibe throughout.

Artificial plants throughout the spa really add to the botanical-inspired theme that transports guests to a truly otherworldly experience.

On the menu

The extensive treatment menu features tailored therapies from brands including TempleSpa, OPI, Gaia, Gel Bottle, Natural Spa Factory and St. Tropez.

Uniforms have been supplied by Simon Jersey with towels and linens by Regency. REM therapy beds are found in the treatment rooms and the fitness suite is equipped by Life Fitness.

The brand has worked with software supplier, Premier Software for its spa management system and uses onejourney as its online e-commerce platform.

Boosting digital strategy

Working with onejourney on its online e-commerce platform, The Elms allows guests to easily add services to their experience, including TempleSpa treatments, spa days, afternoon tea, or champagne, which can be added to their basket in a single transaction.

“This not only enhances the guest experience but also streamlines operational efficiency, ultimately boosting business,” says Elli Regan, commercial performance director at onejourney.

“Spa extras like refreshments, eye masks, chocolate truffles and fruit platters not only contribute to incremental property revenue but also facilitate smoother operations, as the hotel team can pre-order all necessary stock before guests arrive.

“The Elms has seen a 20% increase in average order value since launching onejourney, a true reflection of how important an e-commerce strategy is for hotels and spas.”
