Mandarin Oriental Barcelona has partnered with Spain’s SHA Wellness Clinic to offer a pop-up wellness experience.

Running from September 20-23, the clinic, located inside the hotel, will encourage guests to prioritise their health and wellbeing, offering private consultations with visiting experts on topics such as nutrition, emotional and cognitive development and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

The Emotional and Cognitive Development workshop includes non-invasive electrical stimulation therapy

A Healthy Nutrition consultation will be led by SHA nutritionist María Romeralo, who will offer personalised nutrition advice for optimal health. The 45-minute session will include a medical history review, a personal interview and a nutritional health assessment. Guests will then receive a report with their individualised dietary recommendations and lifestyle suggestions.

Aimed at those learning to manage stress, an Emotional and Cognitive Development consultation will include a 50-minute session with SHA’s head of cognitive development unit, Professor Bruno Ribeiro. Professor Ribeiro will carry out a higher cognitive function assessment and will offer training in relaxation, concentration and overcoming phobias.

"The pop-up is a unique opportunity to enjoy the excellence of wellness for just a few days at the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona."

Additionally, guests will be able to try the clinic’s innovative, non-invasive electrical stimulation therapy, which uses bioelectric impulses to modulate the functioning of specific areas of the brain and has been used effectively to enhance cognitive function and aid recovery in clients suffering from stroke, brain damage, pain, depression, tinnitus, migraine and addiction.

The traditional Chinese medicine session includes a course of acupuncture

Led by TCM specialist Phillipa Harvey, a Traditional Chinese Medicine consultation will combine TCM with western medicine to help prevent minor illnesses and aid recovery. The 45-minute session uses the ancient principles of TCM to boost the body’s own healing and cleansing powers and includes a TCM diagnosis and an acupuncture session to rebalance the body.

Guests can also experience a Healthy Haute Cuisine menu, developed by Lixi Lineas, head chef at the SHA Wellness Clinic, in the Blanc restaurant, while those staying in the hotel’s suites will be greeted with a sweet treat created by healthy pastry chef Andrés Morán.
