Tennis star Andy Murray’s country house hotel, Cromlix, in Dunblane, Scotland, has been granted planning permission for a new wellness facility.

The proposed building, which is located in the 34 acres of woodland that surround the hotel, is currently used for storage.

During 2024 it will be repurposed into a state-of-the-art wellness cottage offering guests spa treatments in the tranquility of the forest.

“Wellness is an increasingly important trend in the travel industry. While we are already lucky to have plenty to offer in that space, we feel that the wellness cottage is an important part of the jigsaw.”

Barry Makin

General manager, Cromlix

Bringing the beauty of Scotland inside

Architect Fergus Purdie and interior designers Garuda Design have put together plans for the wellness cabin.  The aesthetic and colour palette will be in keeping with Cromlix’s vision to ‘bring the beauty of the Scottish countryside in’.

Treatments will be in collaboration with Edinburgh based MODM, which currently supplies handmade vanity products used throughout the hotel. Cromlix will also collaborate with a range of other luxury beauty partners.

Treatments will include individual or couple’s packages as well as facials, manicures, pedicures and massages.

Rolling upgrades at Cromlix

The wellness cottage is planned to open late summer or early autumn 2024.

During 2023, Cromlix upgraded all bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas of the hotel. The wellness cottage is part of further planned upgrades to the property.

Cromlix Hotel was bought by former Andy Murray and his wife, Kim, in 2013. The hotel has 15 bedrooms and a self-catering Lodge house.
