Das Central has added a new rooftop spa to the hotel in Sölden, in the Austrian Alps.

The new Summit Spa, which spans the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel, offers a rooftop infinity pool that is 17 meters long and 17 meters above the ground. There is also an outdoor hot tub, with views of the mountain panorama.

Facilities in the 2,000sqm spa also include six new treatment rooms, a relaxation room, a 120sqm fitness centre with equipment from Technogym and a bistro.

Summit Spa’s indoor thermal area

The thermal area offers a brine grotto steam bath, a cold-water plunge pool and an ice grotto.

There are two newly built saunas – a Finnish event sauna and a bio-panorama sauna all supplied by Schroll.

The Summit Spa is part of a hotel-wide redevelopment, which includes new rooms, suites, a lobby ‘Living Lounge’ and event spaces.

"Our idea is finally becoming a reality. For many years, the big vision has been a spa experience high above the roofs of Sölden, a gathering place to raise a toast, a lobby to feel good in – this is how we want to inspire, surprise and give extraordinary vacation moments."

Inspired by the Alpine setting

The hotel-wide refresh has been led by Mika Architectures and taken almost four years.

The design inspiration is an Alpine look and feel with natural materials and furnishings mainly made out of wood.

Outdoor wet facilities have been supplied by Felder Edelstahl Poolselder and Saurwein Schwimbadd Technik.

Spa manager Heesun Zacher will lead a team of ten therapists offering facials using Vinoble Cosmetics and body treatments by Alpienne, made in the Pitztal valley.

Towels and spa linens are from Schraml Hoteltextil, while treatment beds are custom-built for the spa by designer Salzburger Tischlerei and interior design company Christine Kroncke.

The rooms range from minimalist design to Tyrolean charm, all with a backdrop of the Ötztal mountains.

The addition of the new wellness and penthouse suites will now provide guests with an even more exciting selection of room category.
