Rosewood Hotels has expanded into the German-speaking market following the opening of its first Austrian property.

Located in the famous Petersplatz square, Rosewood Vienna is the fifth property in the group‘s European portfolio.

The hotel is described as an ‘authentic, original and personalised travel experience’. It is housed inside a neo-classical landmark that encompasses buildings that were the home of renowned 18th-century composer Mozart. It was also the headquarters of the Erste Group Bank. The property features 71 guest rooms, 28 suites, a brasserie, rooftop bar and spa.

Asaya Spa

Currently, few details are known about the spa, however, it is expected to open in September 2022. It will be the group’s first Asaya Spa outside of Asia.

Aiming to help guests establish balanced lifestyle routines, the spa will encompass four treatment rooms, a social suite and a relaxation area. Hydrothermal experiences will include a sauna, steam bath and an experience shower. A state-of-the-art fitness centre will be decorated in a restful colour palette of greys and light blues.

Treatments will include rituals and experiences inspired by Austrian wellness traditions, from premium skincare brand Augustinus Bader.

Local heritage

Viennese architects A2K and BEHF have transformed the 19th-century building, designed in 1835 by Alois Pichl, into a 21st-century luxury hotel. Interiors have been created by London-based designer Alexander Waterworth.

Designed to reflect the city’s unique heritage, a neutral colour palette and locally sourced materials, such as leather and marble, combine with bespoke furnishings, lighting and fabrics from local artisans, such as Backhausen, J.L Lobmeyr and Wiener Werkstätte.
