As a connected technology provider, Journey creates products to help hoteliers and spa operators sell and manage experiences online. Its software helps to boost bookings, ramp up revenue and simplify the running of hotels and spas.

Journey works with more than 750 spas and hotels, and is seeing a rise in the number of partners adopting more of the science-based treatments that are key to preventative health.

Laura Meeson, director of spa at Journey, says:

“Interestingly, we see up to 70 per cent of our spa partners now offering memberships. This highlights a clear demand from clients for more structured, ongoing preventative health and recovery support, both physical and mental.”

“The NHS is actively researching preventative health through the Our Future Health programme, which aims to find early detection methods for chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes. This underscores a broader societal focus on wellness interventions to address health challenges before they arise.”

Improving health span

“The concept of increased health span is gaining prominence in the spa sector as consumers seek out more science-backed longevity options,” says Meeson.

“The lines between wellness and medical care are blurring, a shift influenced by heightened awareness of chronic illness prevention and the need to take better care of our mental health.

“The stress and burnout caused by modern life are further driving interest in spas as something above and beyond just an indulgent experience.”

Proven solutions

Journey is witnessing a surge in spas offering innovative wellness solutions for preventative health.

“Our partner Camril in Portugal has some fantastic immunity programmes and Three Graces Spa at Grantley Hall has the Bloom Longevity Labs residency,” says Meeson.

Manor House Alsager is also offering transformative wellness retreats. And of course, Clinique La Prairie exemplifies the merging of science and wellness with holistic longevity programmes.”

Seamlessly adding value

Journey’s experience management and booking technology enables spas to seamlessly add longevity and preventative treatments to packages.

“Services like wellness retreats with biohacking elements and personalised wellness programming are becoming increasingly popular,” says Meeson.

“Consumers are seeking brief yet impactful wellness experiences, especially advanced recovery solutions, digital detoxes and anti-aging treatments.

“Whether it’s genetic testing, AI-driven programming or bespoke experiences tailored to individual health profiles, our Experience Management System has the tools to manage it.

“Hyper-personalisation requires a friction-free booking process, all in one place, which staff and guests can see ahead of time.

“Journey allows guests to pick and choose their personalised health plan online via our e-commerce platform, and spas to differentiate themselves by offering customised wellness solutions.”
