Bamford announces The Club – an exclusive new wellness offering

Bamford Wellness Spa, situated on 3,500 acres of farmland in the Cotswolds, is to be enhanced by The Club by Bamford – a bespoke wellness experience  located ‘within the healing sanctuary of nature’. 

Set to open in March to complement the existing holistic wellbeing offering on Daylesford farm, the new private members’ club will offer contemporary health and fitness practices designed to enhance physical health and sharpen mental agility.

Facilities will include a spin studio, a 340sqm gym with Technogym equipment and Stages Smart Bikes, and a 25-metre pool made entirely from recycled stainless steel and heated by a biomass boiler.

Activities on offer will include farmers walks, tyre flipping, rope climbing, Olympic lifting, sleds, SkiErg, rigs and padel tennis.

Instantly restorative

“The Club is immersed in nature and that instantly feels restorative. I’ve always believed that being in nature heals and here we’ve been able to create that environment,” said Carole Bamford, OBE, founder of the Bamford wellness brand.

“Members can have a swim looking out into an orchard, take fitness outdoors, or have some nourishing food on the balcony overlooking the place where it was produced. It’s a place that’s very personalised: somewhere for members and their wellness, where they can do what suits them.”

Neighbouring the Bamford Wellness Spa – to which all members have access – ‘The Source’ will harness the power of water for strength, stamina, sleep and recovery. Its facilities will include a sauna, steam room, heated outdoor plunge pool and ice baths, allowing members to benefit from the therapeutic properties of the natural elements. Treatments will include cryotherapy, red light therapy and cold water therapy.

Renewable resources

Sitting at the heart of The Club, The Nest is billed as ‘a hub of connection, communication and exchange’. A restaurant space for members to eat, work remotely or switch off from the outside world, it will offer a seasonal menu using locally sourced ingredients – 70% of the vegetable produce will be grown at Daylesford farm.

The all-electric kitchen will be powered using renewable energy, some of which will be generated from 280 solar panels on the roof.

Renewable resources are at the root of The Club’s design. With natural finishes throughout, materials such as stone, marble and granite reflect the contemporary space, while wood panelling echoes the more nurturing wellness and treatment offering.

Speaking exclusively to European Spa, Bamford said: “The concept behind the club is driven by my own experiences. I’ve always believed in uniting modern and ancient techniques – that was the ethos when I opened our first wellness spa in 1992 – so while you’ll find the latest therapeutic treatments, they’re complemented by traditions that have centuries of history: meditation, Pilates and breathwork.

“It’s a place that’s going to give members the opportunity to slow down, to take time for themselves and fuel their mind, body and spirit in the way that feels right for them. We’re even going to have contemplation pods in the orchard where members can just be in silence, with nothing but the sounds of nature around them.

“I don’t think there is a club like this outside of London. It’s a place that’s very personalised. The Club completes the circle of wellness ethos that Daylesford and Bamford offer.”
