Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa near Keswick in the Lake District has announced a £1 million investment into the development of eight new spa garden suites.

The development plan has been put in place following a noticeable increase in demand for spacious, luxury rooms which embody the natural landscape.

The build, which is being carried out by Cubby Construction, is due for completion in April 2023.

It is an extension of a recent development of Armathwaite’s public spaces, including the restaurant, lounge and reception.

Simon Steele, general manager at Armathwaite Hall, said: “The decision to expand our bedroom offering with new spa suites is born off the back of an increase in the high-end leisure market and a demand for bigger and better bedrooms for our luxury spa guests.

“As a company, we are continually assessing our marketing position and actively seeking ways to grow the business.

“Due to this steady growth, there can be significant investment into the hotel and spa facilities including the spa garden suites.”

Bringing the outside in

Existing spa wing bedrooms that lead from the main house towards the spa will be doubled in size to 40-50sqm.

The spa garden suites have been designed to connect guests with the greenery of the landscape that sits directly outside each room.

A sense of cosiness sits at the heart of the design, which will be achieved through the use of natural materials and textures, contemporary fireplaces and carefully designed lighting.

The suites’ layout has been designed in partnership with architect Unwin Jones to include a lobby, a four-piece bathroom, a bedroom and a lounge, with large windows and a feature fireplace.

Internally, the design scheme uses natural raw materials such as oak and stone to further root the rooms naturally within their surroundings.

Armathwaite Hall's Mindfulness with Animals programme is among the first of its kind in the UK

Last year, Armathwaite Hall launched a new mindfulness experience that encourages guests to reconnect with animals and nature.

The programme is part of the hotel’s Rest. Restore. Rewild. package and forms part of the hotel’s mission to become the UK’s leading destination wellness resort.

Set over two floors, the Spa features a 16m infinity edge pool, a 1m deep wallow pool, an outdoor hot tub, a thermal suite including aroma steam room, hydrotherapy pool, Kneipp hoses and a Tepidarium, 10 treatment rooms and the Hush and Tranquillity relaxation areas.
