Luxury brand Anantara has continued its European expansion, opening Anantara Plaza Nice as its first French property.

A rejuvenated 19th century architectural jewel, and one of the most storied hotels on Côte d’Azur, Anantara Plaza Nice overlooks the Promenade des Anglais – the most famous seafront in Nice.

Following an extensive two-year renovation, the 175-year-old building now features a new 300sqm Anantara Spa.

With two double and two single treatment spaces, one especially for hands and feet by Bastien Gonzalez, the spa employs five therapists under spa manager Christelle Rajoie.

Facilities include a relaxation room, hammam, sauna and 24-hour fitness club.

The spa carries a bespoke collection of exclusive massage oils, made with essential oils from the perfume capital, Grasse.

The collection features Anantara Nice’s signature Coucher de Soleil oil, formulated with locally sourced mimosa, ginger and other aromatic botanicals by CHO Nature.

Transformative pedicures

Cutting-edge footcare is on offer from celebrity pedicurist Bastien Gonzalez, known for his playful approach to footcare.

Products are supplied by Thalion. Towels and spa linens are sourced from RKF, treatment beds from LEMI and fitness equipment from Technogym.

Elegant interiors

A consortium of interior designers and architects, including David Collins Studio, local architect Jean-Paul Gomis and TBC Studio, delivered elegant interiors that blend old-world Belle Époque elegance with contemporary luxuries.

The original hotel was Nice’s very first luxury hotel when it opened in 1848.

It now offers 151 rooms including 38 suites, a ballroom and a rooftop restaurant and bar, with a 360-degree panoramic view of the Baie des Anges and Old Nice.

SEEN by Olivier, the hotel’s signature restaurant, offers contemporary Mediterranean fare from Portuguese chef Olivier da Costa.
