‘La Chambre Verte’ promotes the benefits of biophilic design

Luxury Scottish hotel Kimpton Blythswood Square, in Glasgow, has launched ‘La Chambre Verte’, an immersive in-room experiment promoting the psychological and physical benefits of biophilic design and forest bathing.

Developed in partnership with CBD supplier La Rue Verte, leading horticulturalists Benholm and award-winning DJ Brian D’Souza, this multi-sensory experience combines the biophilic principles with CBD rituals, meditation and sound therapy.

Said to be a first for Scotland, the launch coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week 2021, which this year celebrates the theme of ‘Nature’. House plants, such as Hedera Monstera and Peace Lilies, purify the air, removing toxins and pollution.

The benefit of this to guests is that plants omit molecular natural chemicals called phytochemicals, which when inhaled are believed to reduce stress and boost the immune system.

La Rue Verte’s biodegradable hemp yoga mat and CBD vitamin-infused cocktails are available in the mini-bar and guests can relax in the brand’s signature CBD baths as well as nourish their skin with CBD body oil.

Guests can also experience a bespoke, nature-based immersive soundscape within the room, created by Open Ear Music. This novel approach combines field recordings of birdsong in Blythswood Square and the surrounding area with sound therapy techniques and relaxing musical compositions from the studio of Brian d’Souza.

The hotel team aim to report on the benefits of the Chambre Verte experience in comparison to a standard hotel room environment with a view to developing further alternative therapies across the hotel and spa.
