Manor House Therapies has opened a new spa space as part of St Columba’s Hospice Care in Edinburgh.

A commercial holistic therapy and wellbeing brand, Manor House Therapies is running three treatment rooms and a counselling space next to St Columba’s Hospice Care.

Every treatment will help support free hospice services for people across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The unique new initiative was created to provide an opportunity for the hospice to engage with the community beyond traditional care provision, while raising much-needed funds.

“Our model encourages conscious consumerism; where luxurious wellbeing supports a deeper purpose, allowing individuals to back the hospice simply by choosing to buy their self-care services with us.”

Holistic wellbeing lead, Manor House Therapies

A social enterprise model

“The concept originated from a review of the Hospice’s income and business development,” said Lisa Kerr, holistic wellbeing lead at Manor House Therapies. “We felt a commercial wellbeing space offered a unique opportunity for the hospice to raise additional funds, but also engage with the community beyond traditional care provision.

“It also provides a gentle, non-clinical and non-threatening way to introduce more people to hospice environments.”

The spa has partnered with Made for Life Organics and ishga to offer massage therapies, holistic facials, body, hand and foot rituals as well as mindful therapies. BC SoftWear is supplying bathrobes, towels and spa linens.

As a not-for-profit, all income made at Manor House Therapies will be donated to St Columba’s to help fund the free-of-charge services provided within the Hospice.

To support mental, emotional and physical wellbeing for diverse groups, the spa will also be offering a dedicated counselling service led by an MBAPC accredited therapist and counsellor.

Revenue generated by Manor House Therapies will be directly reinvested into St Columba’s free hospice care services.

“The social enterprise model is central to our approach,” added Kerr. “It allows individuals to support the hospice through their everyday choices, making fundraising more accessible and inclusive.”
