Armathwaite Hall in the Lake District has introduced new silent group walks to its programme.

The Silent Estate Nature Walks lead guests through sensory experiences and help them appreciate the beauty of nature on the estate in calming silence.

The programme has been introduced to help guests find inner peace in response to the trend of silent walking, which is sweeping social media platform TikTok.

“Silent walking provides an opportunity for mental decluttering, offering a space to be in tune with one’s thoughts, observe the surroundings, and participate in a type of moving meditation,” said Lucy Dunn, education and animal conservation officer at Armathwaite Hall’s Lake District Wildlife Park.

“The walks are designed to reshape the way we connect with ourselves and our surroundings by waving goodbye to the distractions of music and podcasts.

“Thanks to its remote location in the Lake District, set within 400 acres of peaceful woodland, Armathwaite Hall has minimal noise pollution, providing the perfect backdrop for reconnecting with nature and oneself.”

A creative, mindful journey

Sensory experiences guests will encounter during their walk include the gentle lapping of water from nearby lakes and streams, the call of distant birds, and the rustle of leaves in the breeze.

The stillness of Bassenthwaite lake, surrounded by greenery and the towering Skiddaw mountains, creates a breath-taking panorama.

“Our silent walks enable guests to delve deeply into nature and themselves. This complements the calm provided within our spa and the range of natural ingredients in our treatments from VOYA, Temple Spa and Made for Life.”

Walkers will be guided through ancient trees while exploring the dense forests and down to the shoreline of Bassenthwaite Lake. The silent walks will start from £75 per hour per guest.

“The reflection of the landscape on the calm water’s surface adds to the sense of peace and tranquillity,” added Dunn. “It’s a supreme location to embark on this creative and mindful journey.”
