Four Seasons Hotel at Sultanahmet in Istanbul opens Kurna Spa

Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet, in Turkey, has revealed its new Kurna Spa, which focuses on creating experiences in a traditional Turkish setting.

Located in a recently renovated iconic building, Kurna Spa offers authentic hammam and massage experiences using rejuvenating oils by Atelier Eso in Ayvalık, founded by Esra İzgi.

Facial and body treatments are by Biologique Recherche and Sodashi, which is exclusive to Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet and offers chemical-free, vegan products and treatments.

Traditionally Turkish

Staffed by both Balinese massage therapists and Turkish hammam professionals, Kurna Spa features two hammams, one for single use and one for two people. There is a massage room, a steam room and separate lounges for male and female guests.

In addition, a large hammam is offered for parties and bridal groups of up to six.

The soaps used in Kurna Spa’s hammans are from Atölye Patika, founded by the herbalist Emine Boyner.

“Kurna Spa focuses on a boutique luxury experience, with bespoke treatments using the best local products and unique partners like Sodashi, available only at Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet,” continues Erbilgiç.

“Our range of treatments includes the customary Turkish hammam, which leaves guests feeling rejuvenated the way no other massage can.”

The spa’s design emulates a traditional palace, with white marble mosaic used in the private entrance of the hammam, where a sofa has been designed as a contemporary interpretation of traditional palace furniture.

The hammam has been created with curved walls and arches to surround guests like a cocoon.

Authentic stone washbasins add a touch of tradition to the hammam, and bespoke wood elements, lighting fixtures and mirrors are made by local craftspeople.
