Highly anticipated £7m Holte Spa opens at The Swan Hotel in the Lake District

The long-awaited Holte Spa at The Swan Hotel & Spa in Newby Bridge, UK, has opened its doors. 

Located on the banks of the River Leven in the Lake District, the spa is the result of a £7 million investment and has been described as a ‘multi-sensory wellness journey’. It was developed by Kirsty MacCormick of The Spa Consultancy to help guests reconnect with nature. 

With a focus on sustainable and ethical spa practices, the 743sqm destination spa features six treatment rooms, outfitted with Gharieni treatment beds and REM chairs and trolleys, as well as a spa boutique and a spa garden.

Its treatment menu will offer a host of experiences including authentic bathing traditions and modern spa treatments inspired by the Lake District and powered by brands such as [comfort zone], OTO and Ground Wellbeing. Available treatments include bamboo massage, redwood foot reflexology and CBD massage therapy. 

The wellness experience extends outdoors with the spa garden offering a circuit of thermal experiences, including three bathing experiences – gentle, refreshing and intense –  based on guests’ personal wellness goals. As well as an indoor/outdoor chemical-free vitality pool, outdoor hot tubs, waterfall showers. A Finnish sauna and a relaxation cabin complete the outdoor offering.

The spa will also feature a cafe and deli, offering light and healthy dishes with produce from the hotel’s kitchen gardens available for sale in the deli, as well as a spa boutique selling a carefully curated selection of lifestyle and skincare products. 

The hotel has also been expanded to include 30 new guest rooms and suites, with DLG Architects, specialist contractor Medlock and Fiona Parke of Johnston Parke interiors working on the project.
