Ullswater Heights leisure park in Cumbria, which is run by Leisure Resorts, has announced plans to open a new spa development.

The vision of spa consultant Claire Caddick at Sparticulate, U Spa will have six treatment rooms, a rasul and double hammam, as well as 12m indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools.

Additional facilities will include five different thermal offerings including a Himalayan salt chamber plus aroma and herbal steam rooms.

A herbal lounge will have dedicated post-treatment snooze beds and experience cabins.

“Our aim is to deliver a spa with exceptional attention to detail, and a treatment menu curated with global cultural influences. We’re creating a prudent, diverse and inclusive wellbeing experience for all guests, with no exceptions.”

Meeting demand for experiential wellness

Located next to Ullswater Heights’ Lake House bar, the 1,230sqm spa development will have views over the lake. In addition, dedicated spa lodges on the edge of the lake will be available for spa breaks.

The thermal areas have been designed by Mark Green of Curveline Design with pools and thermals supplied by Unique Pool.

“The decision to invest £4 million in developing a spa at Ullswater Heights is a testament to our dedication to staying ahead of evolving consumer wants and needs,” said Gary Molloy, chief executive at Leisure Resorts.

“We have already introduced hot tubs and sauna pods to our Spa Retreat lodges,” said Molloy. “In response to the growing trend for wellness-focused stays and experiential breaks, we believe now is the opportune moment to elevate our spa offering.”

A menu offering ‘serious wellbeing’

U Spa will use Tribe517 products exclusively with a signature spa menu offering ‘serious wellbeing’ and reflecting cultural experiences from around the world.

Equipment will be supplied Ellisons and towelling and spa linens by BC SoftWear.

The build is due to be finished in October with a view to opening in November 2024.
