A luxury nature-based retreat, Saltmoore is a wellness-led hotel with 72 bedrooms that has recently opened in North Yorkshire, UK.

The Sanctuary at Saltmoore, which has been created alongside treatment partner Wildsmith Skin, is a spa complete with five treatment rooms. Saltmoore’s interior vision was brought to life by Sapin Studios.

Wellness facilities include an indoor heated pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and a relaxation room. Loungers are by Coco Wolf and towels and spa linens by BC SoftWear.

There is also a cryotherapy chamber by Mecotech, set at -85˚C and available for three-minute sessions, plus an ice bath by Brass Monkey.

There is a gym equipped to cater to hybrid and functional training modalities. There is also a Wellness Café.

“The Sanctuary at Saltmoore is a place of serenity, inviting guests to escape the hustle of daily life and immerse themselves in the present moment. Our spa offers a mindfully curated collection of treatments crafted to rejuvenate, soothe and uplift.”

The treatment menu

Saltmoore partnered with Wildsmith Skin to create the treatment menu. Each treatment is aligned to the time of the day and incorporates Wildsmith Skin’s high-performance formulations to support skin health.

Treatments are inspired by the universal principle of circadian rhythm and delivered by highly trained practitioners.

The offer includes the Wildsmith Radical Botany facial, which incorporates a sequence of breathwork, myofascial release, acupressure, and craniosacral holds to dissipate tension and restore balance, and the Wildsmith Rebalancing massage.

This bespoke therapeutic massage uses essential oil blends aligned to specific times of day to support the circadian rhythm.

"Working with the team at Saltmoore we have been continually impressed by the care and attention paid to every element of the hotel's renovation and focus on creating a space that is both inviting and quietly luxurious. The result is a beautiful space that is truly unique to the area."

Katherine Pye

General manager, Wildsmith Skin

“For Wildsmith, our founding belief is that human wellbeing thrives when we are interconnected with the natural world,” adds Pye. “The extraordinary setting of Saltmoore in 85 acres of untamed land could not be more perfect.

“Staying true to our approach of working with skin’s innate intelligence, guests will find on offer meticulously crafted frameworks, designed to harmonise with the body’s natural circadian rhythms.”

Future wellness offerings

At the heart of the estate, Saltmoore House draws inspiration from industrial mills and the Victorian era. The estate also has a Beach House and Cottage rooms.

Formerly known as Raithwaite Sandsend, the 19th century estate has been completely reimagined into a wellness-led sanctuary.

There is a lake within the grounds that the team hope to offer outdoor swimming in the future. Sea dips and surfing are on offer at nearby Sandsend Beach.

In spring 2025, Saltmoore will open Calluna, an immersive fine-dining restaurant.
