Emily Howarth has been appointed as new spa manager of  RE:TREAT Spa at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

Howarth will oversee the spa’s day-to-day operations, supporting the team, enhancing guest journeys and driving commercial performance.

She will work closely with both the hotel and the wider wellness team, with a goal of ensuring the RE:TREAT spa delivers an exceptional standard of service that reflects the Lowry’s luxury brand values.

“I believe a spa should be more than just a place for treatments – it should be a sanctuary for total wellbeing. We have a number of exciting upgrades in the pipeline around a more personalised, holistic approach that aligns with current wellness trends, which I look forward to announcing in due course.”

Howarth has worked in the spa and wellness industry for more than eight years. She began her journey as a spa therapist with Hilton, progressing into leadership roles.

She joined the team at the Lowry Hotel four years ago as a therapist before being promoted to head therapist, a position she held for almost a year.

This role gave Howarth a strong foundation in leadership and operations, team support and training, plus an understanding of RE:TREAT’s day-to-day flow.

“As spa manager at RE:TREAT, I plan to focus on building strong relationships with the team and understanding guest expectations,” said Howarth. “I will be reviewing current treatment offerings to ensure we have the right foundations in place to deliver a five-star experience.

“ I want to also put a strong emphasis on guest feedback and team development, to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.”

RE:TREAT Spa has a technology-based focus. It offers an Icepod cryotherapy chamber, a meditation pod by Somadome and I-sopod sensory deprivation tank alongside classic spa treatments.

Opened in 2022, it was heralded as one of the UK’s first ‘technology spas’.

It also offers four treatment rooms offering Gaia and Elemis treatments, a zen relaxation area with loungers and an all glass fitness studio with a timetable of Pilates and yoga classes.

“RE:TREAT Spa is a key offering within our property,” said director of operations, Alistair Buchanan Risk. “Emily instinctively stepped into a leadership role, displaying confidence, capability and a natural affinity for management.

“Her seamless transition prompted us to pause external recruitment and invest in her growth through a tailored six-month personal development plan.

“Her leadership has driven notable improvements in guest satisfaction and enhanced the spa’s commercial performance.

“Her journey is a shining example of how internal development, when paired with opportunity and support, leads to outstanding results – not just for individuals, but for the business as a whole.”
