The Sequoia Spa at The Grove in Hertfordshire will reopen at the end of June 2022, following an extensive three-phase investment that has seen the spa completely redesigned.

The spa, which was originally expected to launch in May, has undergone an extensive renovation with new additions including a new relaxation room, member’s lounge, accessible changing areas, a spacious dining area and revamped spa reception.

New thermal experiences, supplied by Advanced Pools and Anapos, including two new experience showers, a Japanese spa bath and upgraded poolside thermal experiences; a men’s sauna and steam room have also been added.

Other suppliers include Inline London, which is providing the spa staff uniforms, Excelcia London, which is supplying flip-flops, and BC Softwear, which is providing robes and slippers.

Spa interiors combining natural materials with warm, earthy tones have been designed by hospitality interior design specialist StudioJill to create a ‘peaceful, nature-inspired ambience’.

Aiming to provide an enhanced experience for guests and members alike, the spa will also launch a new treatment menu offering facials, massages and luxurious body treatments. All treatments are 80-minutes long, can be tailored to guests’ individual needs and are designed to relax, replenish and rejuvenate.

New experiences include the Diamond Experience Infusion of Life, which uses LED technology to reverse premature ageing by stimulating the skin’s collagen production, boosting firmness and elasticity for a youthful glow.

Also on offer is the Bamboo Massage, which uses bamboo sticks to firmly massage the body, ease tension and soothe tired joints; and the Citrus Drench Wrap; a refreshing treatment that removes dead skin cells, aids hydration, restores firmness and provides a dose of vitamin C, leaving the body refreshed and revitalised.

Following their treatments, guests are invited to unwind with a cup of herbal tea in the new relaxation room.

The revamp is part of a larger project which saw the redesign of 189 of the guest bedrooms

“The refurbishment of Sequoia Spa is extremely exciting and will continue to enhance the experience for both spa members and guests of The Grove,” said Sequoia Spa director, Debbie Rogers.

“Throughout the spa warm, earthy tones will be used, contributing to the peaceful, nature-inspired ambience. Natural materials will be used as part of The Grove’s ongoing goal to bring together the beautiful gardens and its outstanding exteriors and facilities.

“The refurbishment of the Sequoia Spa will provide guests with the opportunity to truly relax and unwind in a luxurious, nature-inspired setting, and is yet another fabulous enhanced addition to the facilities at The Grove,” she added.

The spa’s redesign forms part of a larger renovation project, which saw the total overhaul of 189 guest rooms in the hotel’s west wing in 2021. Future refurbishment plans include the restoration of the remaining guest rooms, while the spa’s outdoor terrace will undergo its own transformation, with new furniture creating the ‘ultimate summertime retreat’.
