Seven years after the opening of its Neró Spa, Terme Preistoriche Resort and Spa in Montegrotto Terme has added to its offering with a new medical wellness clinic.

The Thermal Treatments, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, designed by Studio Apostoli, will provide cutting-edge treatments and personalised medical services. There will also be thermal offerings in line with the traditions of the area.

The Italian hospitality complex, in the heart of the Euganean Hills, previously collaborated with Studio Apostoli on its existing 1,200sqm Neró Spa, which opened in 2019.

A thermal focal point for guests

“With this new treatment department, we are breaking conventions – in design, in protocols and in our overall approach,” said Angela Stoppato, CEO of Terme Preistoriche Resort and Spa.

“Every choice was conceived to innovate, while deepening the relationship between people, nature and care.

“Over the next two years, we will not only enhance the appearance of the mud cultivation pools but transform them into a spectacle, allowing them to finally take centre stage in our thermal treatments.”

A place of wellbeing

The department is set across two floors, with interiors in an art nouveau style aimed at attracting a more diverse clientele.

“The light entering through the large windows of the changing rooms follows circadian cycles,” said Stoppato. “The relaxation lounge, designed to elevate the time dedicated to treatment, invites contemplation of the artisanal practice of mud cultivation.”

“The building is the result of complementary layers, with harmonious interventions added over time,” added Alberto Apostoli, founder and creative director of Apostoli Wellness Creators.

“This new element is shaped by the latest wellness technologies. It is a place of wellbeing not only in terms of its offerings, but also in its ability to integrate with sensitivity and respect the surrounding morphology.”

“The wellness sector is in constant evolution and its offering must necessarily adapt, not only to the specific needs of guests and the objectives of each individual property, but also to the distinctive characteristics of the territory.”

Treatments and therapies

The treatments on offer will incorporate physiotherapy, rehabilitation and thermal therapies using mature natural mud – which was a key design driver for the new department.

The availability of the hyperthermal waters of the Euganean spas and of Mature Natural Thermal Mud – a European patent whose medical efficacy is also recognised by the World Health Organisation – represents a unique asset for Terme Preistoriche Resort.

Bespoke thermal treatments will be prescribed by a doctor and will help to tackle issues such as rheumatism and and respiratory conditions.

Thermal pool programmes will be prescribed to help guests reduce joint load, improve mobility and promote functional recovery.

The resort has also recently undergone refurbishment of its 47 rooms and communal dining areas, which are all directly connected to the surrounding 50,000sqm park.
