Sopwell House announces its new director of spa

Luxury Hertfordshire hotel Sopwell House has announced a new director of spa at its award-winning Cottonmill Spa.

Luigi Villani joins the team with more than 20 years of international experience in luxury spa and wellness operations.

Villani moves to Sopwell House from Kempinski Hotels, where he led the team as head of spas, overseeing the global spa and wellness strategy across 80 properties worldwide.

Prior to that, Villani was director of learning and performance at spa management company, Ocean View Monaco, where he oversaw a team of 380 staff across a portfolio of 17 luxury cruise ship spas.

Villani has a strong background in revenue optimisation, operational performance and staff development, alongside delivering measurable boosts to guest satisfaction and employee retention.

Driving excellence

In his new role, Villani will oversee Sopwell House’s Cottonmill Spa and the Club at Cottonmill.

He will introduce his vision for a world-class experience to the property and drive continued operational excellence.

By focusing on fully understanding members’ needs, he will implement new opportunities to further enrich the guest journey, while fostering a strong team culture.

About Cottonmill Spa

Cottonmill spa at Sopwell House was unveiled in 2019. Primarily intended to boost the spa’s position in the luxury guest market, the £14m investment took place across an extensive development period of six years.
