Six Senses has confirmed that its first UK destination will open in early 2026.

Six Senses London, which will be set within the Whiteley London in Bayswater, will feature a 2,300sqm Six Senses Spa.

Set across a single floor and inspired by London’s layers and energy, the spa offering will combine pioneering recovery methods with ancient healing practices. Personalised programmes will offer guests the opportunity to restore balance and vitality.

It promises to mirror the different energies of city life in a space reminiscent of an old-fashioned London underground station.

“Crafted experiences will be delivered with science, spirit and connection for the mind, body and soul. My aim will be to deliver out of the ordinary experiences in this space, which will inspire the spirit of hospitality and raise the bar with our wellness offering.”

Taffryn Kinsey Ellis

Director of wellness, Six Senses London

The Six Senses Alchemy Bar will be accessed by a bridge, flanked by two towering natural tree sculptures.

Speaking exclusively to European Spa about the property, director of wellness Taffryn Kinsey Ellis, said: “The Alchemy Bar will be a space dedicated to learning and fun. Therapists will guide guests through a variety of locally sourced ingredients to blend their own spa products.”

The spa will feature a longevity medical clinic – the Biohack Recovery Lounge – a 20m pool and London’s first magnesium plunge pool within a hotel.

Additional facilities will include a cold plunge, floatation pod, cryotherapy chamber, sauna and steam room. There will be a 325sqm fitness suite along with movement studios for meditation, yoga and aerial yoga.

There will also be two double and six single treatment rooms, a sensory suite and a relaxation room.

Six Senses London will be located in the Whiteley London in Bayswater

The Whiteley reimagined

The redevelopment of the former Whiteley shopping centre is preserving key original features of the grade II-listed landmark, including its façade, domed roof, central courtyard and grand staircase inspired by La Scala in Milan.

The art deco landmark has been reimagined by Foster + Partners, and Six Senses London is part of a £1 billion renovation of the building, which was originally a drapery shop opened in 1863 by William Whiteley.

Six Senses London will feature 109 guest rooms and suites, as well as 14 branded residences designed by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects.

Six Senses Place

The hotel will introduce the brand’s first private club, Six Senses Place, created to redefine how people come together in an urban setting.

Described  as ‘a new rhythm for the city; a vibrant sanctuary for celebration, purpose and wellbeing’, Six Senses Place will offer members a space to nourish and restore, move with purpose and feel a sense of belonging.

“Six Senses Place will be a one-of-a-kind social club where wellness, community and celebration will meet, with sustainability at its core,” said Kinsey Ellis.

Sustainability at Six Senses London

A dedicated sustainability director will ensure the property lives up to Six Senses’ eco credentials. Operations will be plastic-free and materials have been selected for their circular potential, with local sourcing prioritised.

The Earth Lab will provide a space for guests to learn more about sustainability, engage and take action. It has been designed as an immersive experience that blends creativity, wellness and sustainability.

Now part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses operates 27 hotels and resorts in 22 countries. The brand has a further 38 properties into the development pipeline.
