As part of its ambitious Plastic Free 2022 strategy, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has become the first hospitality brand to collaborate with The United States Coalition on Sustainability and SustainChain.
The initiative aims to avoid all virgin plastic materials in Six Senses hotel and spa operations. Beginning with single-use and disposable plastic, the brand is removing exposure to all plastics for guests and communities in and around its properties.
In 2019/2020 alone, more than 2.4 million single-use plastic bottles were replaced. Group vice-president of sustainability Jeff Smith and Six Senses Yao Noi in Thailand have worked on a prototype for a plastic-free kitchen with the intention of extending the approach to all Six Senses properties.
