Rosewood Hotels is set to manage the iconic Hotel Bauer in Venice following a partnership with real estate developer Signa Prime Selection.
The hotel, which dates back to 1888, is located between the Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco in the city’s historic San Marco district. It will undergo a significant multi-year renovation before reopening as the Rosewood Hotel Bauer in 2025.
Works are scheduled to begin in November 2022 and the hotel will close its doors for the duration of the refurbishment.
The restoration of the 134-year-old building will be handled by Venice-based architect Alberto Torsello and interior design group BAR Studio, with much of the hotel’s historic framework being repaired and incorporated into the new design. Original elements, such as the building’s façade and grand, winding staircase will be preserved as a symbol of the property’s rich past.
Sustainability will also play a key role in the plans for the hotel, with Rosewood aiming to gain the Green Pass, Klima Haus and LEED Gold sustainability certifications.
