Glasgow hotel, spa and golf resort, Mar Hall, has reopened after a £20m renovation project.

The five-star 74-room heritage hotel, located on banks of Scotland’s River Clyde in a 240-acre ancient woodland estate, has revealed a new identity.

The enhancements are the culmination of the first phase of a multi-million-pound redevelopment plan to modernise the resort.

Spa renovations at Mar Hall

As part of the renovation, Mar Hall’s eight-treatment-room spa has been updated with a reimagined 20-metre swimming pool and leisure suite.

New thermal facilities include saunas, steam rooms and an outdoor thermal suite. The outdoor retreat includes a hot tub and heated loungers with views of the River Clyde and Kilpatrick Hills.

There are also new Spa Garden Suites with private gardens, and a newly devised menu of treatments is supplied by Hebridean seaweed brand, ishga.

Understated Scandinavian design

The vision of Curveline Design, the spa has been inspired by the understated elegance of Scandinavian design. It is discreetly connected to the hotel via a covered walkway.

The transformation has been guided by asset management platform Align Partners.

The new open-plan fitness centre features Primal performance equipment. Further plans are underway for private woodland lodges and additional to the spa.

New resort director

Last month, Mar Hall announced the appointment of Andy Roger as resort director, to oversee the reopening and lead Mar Hall into its next chapter.

Roger has decades of experience in relaunching, repositioning and leading heritage hotels and resorts.

"Returning to a more intimate resort setting is a welcome shift – it takes me back to my earlier roles, focused on genuine, personal connections with both the team and our guests.”
