Mandarin Oriental’s newest hotel, located within the historic Ringstrasse in Vienna, has opened with a Spa at Mandarin Oriental.

The brand’s first hotel in Austria was originally a 1906 art nouveau court house. The building has been reimagined to include 138 rooms and suites, and a 700sqm curated wellness experience with seven treatment rooms, relaxation lounge and a 13m indoor pool.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Vienna is devoted to renewal, balance and holistic wellbeing. The thermal zone includes a sauna and steam room, and there’s a fully equipped Technogym fitness centre.

“Rooted in Mandarin Oriental’s global wellness philosophy, our signature rituals combine contemporary techniques with time‑honoured traditions, including local customs. A highlight is the Essence of Vienna treatment, a culturally resonant and deeply relaxing experience.”

The Essence of Vienna

Inspired by Vienna’s blend of art, culture and musical heritage, the spa offers locally inspired treatments blended with traditional Asian therapies.

Signature rituals include the Essence of Vienna treatment – Music and Movement, which blends local botanicals with massage choreographed to Mozart and Strauss.

The spa’s facial partners are 111Skin and Swiss Perfection. Marking the brand’s first collaboration with Mandarin Oriental, the spa offers Wildsmith’s Regenerative Radiance Facial as well as Wildsmith body rituals developed to address the ‘silent loads’ of modern life including depletion and disconnection.

Movement and sauna rituals

Wildsmith has crafted an Intelligent Movement Programme for posture and mobility, as well as curated sauna rituals.

The Artisan is a three-hour immersive experience dedicated to slowing time and embracing stillness. Guided by sauna practitioners, the ritual includes aroma infusions, a steam scrub and traditional leaf whisking as well as breathwork, gentle stretches and massage.

Additional wellness offerings include movement and sound sessions, from gong baths to Viennese waltz-inspired bodywork.

Wellness continues outside of the hotel with guided hikes through the Vienna Woods and around the 21km Danube Island.

Goddard Littlefair’s interior design balances reflects Vienna’s early 20th-century spirit.

The hotel centres around a restored courtyard and the lower-level spa continues a theme of immersive luxury with rich finishes, striking features and gold-painted accents.
