Katie Baker joins Marquis Suffolk as spa and wellness director

Katie Baker has been appointed spa and wellness director at Marquis Spa by Marquis Suffolk.

The hotel is undergoing extensive expansion to create additional facilities including a subterranean spa and Italian gardens. It is scheduled to open in July 2024.

Baker joins the project team from the Spa at Kesgrave Hall in Suffolk, which she set up in the height of the Covid pandemic. Her experience including working as part of the pre-opening team for the £30m Lifehouse Spa in Essex and eight years lecturing in beauty at Colchester Institute.

Baker also holds a teaching degree, an assessor’s award and an internal quality assurance qualification.

“I have a wealth of experience within luxury spas and I believe training is vital for a spa’s continued success,” continues Baker. “Only by investing in our staff will we be able to deliver the most exceptional treatments.”

Subterranean Italian-inspired spa

The new Marquis Spa will include one double and two single treatment rooms, a manicure area, spa lounge, sauna and hot tub.

Designed for 12 guests, the subterranean Italian-inspired vaulted spa will offer an indoor and outdoor infinity swimming pool overlooking over the picturesque Brett Valley.

Each guest will be offered their own personal bag, amenities, lockers and sumptuous day bed around the hand-crafted vaulted pool.
