The Gleddoch Golf and Spa Resort near Glasgow, Scotland, has revealed its renovated Imperia Spa.

A privately owned 350-acre estate, which once belonged to shipbuilding magnate Baron Lithgow, Gleddoch has invested in a multi-million-pound 1,100sqm spa.

The new look Imperia Spa evokes an age of elegance and excess. It first opened in 2017 and has been re-imagined as an indulgent, glamorous space by 3Design Scotland.

The aesthetic features gold, black and marble, draped with quilted upholstery and fluted crystal, all inspired by the salons of Europe’s grand hotels.

The renovated spa has seven treatment rooms and offers facials and body therapies by Natura Bissé, Elemis, Temple Spa and Ayurvedic specialist Tri-Dosha. Treatment beds are supplied by Lemi.

Paula Anderson is spa operations manager and Taylor McDevitt is spa manager.

Announcing the development, Gleddoch’s GM, James Anderson said: “The Imperia Spa is the culmination of a vision to create a destination that transcends trends and defines its own standard of luxury.

“Every detail has been carefully considered to create a spa experience that will not only elevate Gleddoch but further position Scotland among the world’s most distinguished spa destinations.”

Spa thermal journey

As well as a gold and obsidian black indoor pool, there are numerous thermal facilities, supplied by Anapos and Brass Monkey.

These include a pink Himalayan salt sauna in the spa’s relaxation conservatory, as well as an aroma steam room, salt steam room, ice fountain, hydrotherapy pool, barrel drench shower and cold plunge.

The Imperia Spa also boasts one of the largest outdoor saunas in the UK. The 45sqm sauna is located near to the outdoor hydrotherapy pool and offers panoramic views of the Clyde Estuary and Ben Lomond.

For relaxation, the spa has heated loungers and an open-air lounge on the grand Veranda. There is an exotic Palm Room orangery filled with rare palms and an open-air lounge infused with the intricate Moorish design.

Beds in the deep relaxation room are supplied by Gharieni. Towels and spa linens are supplied by BC Softwear, while the spa software is by Trybe.

Gleddoch Golf and Spa Resort is a 76-room property, which became a hotel in 1974.

The original Glendoch House Hotel was bought by the Johal family in 2015 and renamed Gleddoch Golf and Spa Resort. It was refurbished in 2017.

The property is part of the Best Western’s luxury hotel collection, WorldHotels.
