Tennis star Andy Murray’s Scottish hotel, Cromlix, has revealed the soon-to-open Woodland Retreat Spa will offer treatments by Bamford.

The country house hotel in Dunblane, Scotland, is set to open in May following a major estate-wide renovation. The Woodland Retreat Spa occupies a repurposed former storehouse, deep in the woodland on the hotel’s 34-acre estate.

Designed by Perthshire architect Fergus Purdie and interior designer Suzanne Garuda, the one-person wellness space will serve as a tranquil sanctuary to relax, restore and rejuvenate.

There are plans to add a sauna and cold plunge overlooking the Loch at a later date. Wellness treatments will only be available to hotel guests.

“Wellness has become the ultimate luxury for travellers. Our new elevated offer will add to the guest experience and, in Bamford, we have found the perfect partner – a premium, British brand that, like us, has a deep respect for nature and the landscape.”

A natural partnership

The collaboration with Bamford will centre on a shared belief in the restorative power of nature.

Individually tailored treatments will include the Cromlix Bamford Signature Treatment, an immersive experience starting with an Epsom salts foot ritual, followed by Japanese shiatsu and Swedish massage techniques, heated chakra stone therapy and yogic breathing.

“We are delighted to be working with Cromlix on the launch of their Woodland Retreat Spa,” says Louise Riby, director of business development at Bamford.

“It’s a natural partnership with shared beliefs and ethos. The rituals we have created reflect our commitment to nature whilst recognising guests needs.”

Bamford will work alongside MODM, a Scottish wellness brand that has supplied in-room amenities throughout the hotel since 2023.

MODM specialises in natural, vegan products that are hand-blended in small batches. MODM treatments will include an 80-minute Signature Holistic massage experience as well as bespoke massages and facials.

Rolling upgrades at Cromlix

During 2023, Cromlix upgraded all bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas of the hotel. The wellness cottage is part of further planned upgrades to the property.

Cromlix Hotel was bought by former Andy Murray and his wife, Kim, in 2013. The hotel has 15 bedrooms and a self-catering Lodge House.
