The Spa at Coworth Park, part of the Dorchester Collection, has revelaed its fully reimagined spa.

The space has been redesigned by Sparcstudio to reflect the gentle pace of the surrounding Berkshire countryside, offering a slower, deeper kind of wellness that feels connected with nature.

The spa team, led by Teresa O’Farrell, global director of wellness and spa at Dorchester Collection, wanted to update the spa and add new wellness experiences.

The aim was to create a sense of place in the reimagined space, with a strong connection to Coworth Park’s gardens and wildflower meadow.

“Sparcstudio really understood the brief to elevate the offer with new wellbeing experiences. They delivered a scheme inspired by nature and Coworth Park's wildflower meadows, which adds another layer of sensory experience and comfort to the spa.”

Poolside thermal experience

Responding to growing demand for thermal rituals, the spa now offers an expanded poolside thermal experience.

There is a Finnish sauna with slatted timber profiles that wrap across the walls and ceiling, plus a Citrine-lined curved steam room with full height glazing to provide views across the pool and to the gardens beyond.

The addition of a snow room provides a contrast therapy experience with cold fog, snow shower tree and ice font.

The bespoke thermal experiences were designed by Sparcstudio and formed by KLAFS.

Two sets of Dornbracht multi-experience showering zones have been incorporated into the curved niches at each end of the thermal suite. The main contractor was Curo Interiors.

“Guests have responded overwhelmingly positively to the spa and in particular our new pool and thermal suite experiences,” said Coworth Park GM, Zoe Jenkins.

“The striking new colour scheme and atmospheric lighting create a dramatic night time ambiance, with the amethyst hues reflecting across the water.”

A barefoot luxury space

The silk-lined spa lounge has been reimagined as a luxurious barefoot space, with a feature bookcase wall and a central fireplace flanked with bespoke sofas. Furniture is by RHA furniture with rugs from Concept Hand Tufting.

There is also a new post-treatment deep relaxation zone housing a suite of Gharieni Satori beds. The beds offer a deeply immersive, science-backed spa experience that blends technology with sensory relaxation.

The eight treatment rooms, named after Coworth Park’s diverse flora, have also been given a refresh. Each is named after Coworth Park’s flora, including Rose and Bluebell.

Bespoke treatments are offered partnership with Natura Bissé, ishga, Wildsmith and Made for Life Organics.

The Quartz Wellbeing room provides an elevated wellness experience with consultation area and a Gharieni Quartz treatment bed as the centre piece.

Lastly there is also a new mani-pedi room with options for hairdressing thanks to a cleverly incorporated fold-away sink.

“Reimagining and refurbishing an award-winning wellness space like the Spa at Coworth Park demands a particularly sensitive approach. Our goal was to elevate comfort and luxury, while introducing new wellbeing experiences that would futureproof the offering, without losing the essence of the original design.”

Director, Sparcstudio

“We wanted to create a bright, iridescent feel to the pool and thermal area, and lead the eye out to the gardens beyond,” said Beverley Bayes, director at Sparcstudio.

“The pool walls are finished in a pale eau-de nil render, overlayered with illuminated mosaic panels by Trend Group, featuring an amethyst ombre effect.

“This is designed to echo the colours and tones of the 15 amethyst crystals that line the side of the pool.”

Fitness and spa harmony

The gym has been expanded and equipped with the UK’s first Technogym luxury Artis line as well as a Technogym Checkup station, which intelligently tests strength, mobility, balance and fitness levels.

The timber-lined full-height windows of the newly extended gym space ensure guests can workout while feeling immersed by the gardens and landscape beyond.

‘‘We collaborated with Technogym to ensure there would be a wellbeing synergy between the design of the fitness space with the new overall spa design,” said Bayes. “The gym interior has fine fluted timber panels, which wrap around the floors and ceilings, defining the strength zone.”
