UK-based luxury hotel operator The Calcot Collection has announced the sale of its Barnsley House (above) and the Village Pub properties in Gloucestershire, UK to British furniture brand Timothy Oulton. 

The property will continue to operate as a luxury hotel, spa and pub and the team, including hotel director Michele Mella, who has led Barnsley House for the past 11 years, will remain in place with all existing bookings to be honoured.

Significant investment

The group described the sale of the 18-bedroom property as a “very difficult decision”, but one that would allow for “significant investment and expansion” at Calcot & Spa, its flagship property in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. 

Redevelopment works are planned to begin at Calcot & Spa at the beginning of 2022, including extended accommodation and the addition of five new family suites and three tree-houses. A new fitness facility is also planned. 

The group will also add five new bedrooms to its Lord Crewe Arms Hotel in Northumberland.

Richard Ball, Calcot Collection’s executive chairman, commented: “We have loved our time as custodians of this wonderful property, but we feel the time is right to consolidate our interests and are excited to be able to hand them over to new owners.” 

New Barnsley House owner
