BABTAC Inspiring Beauty Awards: Winners revealed

Four categories celebrate 'positivity and vision' throughout global pandemic

The winners of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) Inspiring Beauty Awards have been revealed.

Celebrating those in the beauty industry who have shown ‘positivity and vision’ through the Covid-19 pandemic, there were four award categories: Charity champion; Best business pivot during Covid-19; Industry expert supporting people working in beauty; and Best use of communication and social media in the pandemic.

The awards’ judging panel included internal and independent judges as well as skincare expert and author Caroline Hirons and beauty entrepreneur Millie Kendall, MBE.

BABTAC chair Lesley Blair commented: “We were blown away by the stories submitted by professionals in our industry who have made the best of what has been a really difficult year. We felt it was very important to commend beauty professionals at this time and hope the awards helped raise the spirits of those working in our industry.”

CHARITY CHAMPION: Abigail Oleck Hewett, MD, BeauSkin was chosen due to her tireless commitment, giving over 1,000 hours volunteering to help frontline NHS and key workers as well as supporting the local community.
BEST BUSINESS PIVOT DURING COVID: Katie Millington, owner, Love Beauty Gatley, received this award after turning her beauty salon business into a refillable household products success called Gatley Refillery.
INDUSTRY EXPERT SUPPORTING PEOPLE WORKING IN BEAUTY: Sonia Haria, beauty director, Daily Telegraph, was chosen for this award due to her unrelenting commitment to supporting people working in the beauty industry.
BEST USE OF COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE PANDEMIC: Katie White, owner re:lax LDN, stayed in touch with customers through social media by producing brand new content for Instagram and Facebook as well as launching a new YouTube on-demand service.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Caroline Hirons was commended for pioneering the 'Beauty Backed Campaign' - a fundraising initiative to ease the plight of beauty businesses worst affected during the coronavirus pandemic which, to date, has raised more than £600,000.
