Plans have been submitted to transform an unused quarry lake and surrounding land into an eco-wellness resort in East Anglia. Centred on waterside living and water-based recreation, the 80-hectare Ashwicken Lake is located close to the Norfolk Broads and combines woodlands and wetlands with a 1km-square lake at its centre.
A £35m (€40.4m) investment by Norfolk Farm Leisure will see the site re-imagined as an eco-resort featuring what is believed to be the UK’s first floating clubhouse, which will house a spa and be encircled by 132 contemporary lodges arranged in clusters. There will also be 22 treehouses nestled in the surrounding woodlands.
