Wildsmith has revealed that Michelle Smith has joined its team as business development manager – spa and wellbeing.

Formerly director of spa and wellness at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, Smith began her 17-year career at a small spa in Manchester.

After working as senior therapist during the opening of Bulgari Hotel London, she joined ESPA Life at Corinthia London as head therapist before moving to Mandarin Oriental in 2018.

She also worked as part of the pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino in Greece.

Successful spa operations

“I think having that hands-on operational experience will help me in this role, as I understand the day-to-day challenges spa teams face and the importance of having a brand that genuinely supports them,” said Smith.

“Having worked in spas for so many years, I have a good understanding of both the operational side and what therapists and spa teams need from a brand.”

Smith’s role will include working with existing spa partners, supporting everything from training and treatment development to retail performance and new opportunities.
