Hard Rock Hotel Malta opens with signature Rock Spa

Hard Rock International has opened its first property in Malta, complete with a 3,800sqm Rock Spa.

Located on St. George’s Bay, the five-star hotel represents a €350m direct investment in Malta’s tourism sector. It was developed in partnership with Maltese hospitality and property developer, Db Group.

As one of the largest wellness facilities in Malta, the Rock Spa offers 11 treatment rooms. A vast thermal area includes a pool, sauna, steam room, salt room, hot tub and ice bath.

There is also a hammam, a meditation dome and a private mezzanine relaxation lounge, with a unique vibroacoustic chromotherapy booth.

The Rock Spa also features the world’s largest Technogym-equipped Body Rock fitness centre, at 2,000sqm. Rock Om customised yoga experiences are available for guests to experience in their room.

A community spa

The spa consultant on the project was Spa Connectors’ founder, Kathryn Moore. She worked with the Hard Rock team to build a spa that works equally well for hotel guests and the local Maltese community.

“Hard Rock Hotel Malta represents the next generation of Hard Rock wellness, moving beyond the traditional hotel spa to create a genuine lifestyle and wellness destination,” says Moore.

For treatments, Rock Spa has partnered with Comfort Zone, 111Skin, Knesko, Coola and Therabody.

Treatment beds by both Nilo Spa Design and Gharieni, while spa linens are by BC SoftWear.

The Sound Body concept

The hotel is offering its Sound Body concept, which integrates its Body Rock fitness and Rock Spa recovery facilities into a single wellness offering.

Sound Body combines movement, recovery, longevity and restoration as part of one connected journey.

The concept blends immersive fitness with hydrothermal and recovery facilities, all designed around movement, restoration and longevity-focused wellbeing.

Rhythm & Motion treatment series

The spa is offering Hard Rock’s unique, music-centric Rhythm & Motion spa treatments.

A fully immersive music-centric spa menu, Rhythm & Motion sees each treatment powered by a curated playlist, designed to match and enhance massage techniques.

Guests can choose the playlist they’re most drawn to, from ambient and restorative to beat-driven and energising.

“The magic happens through a proprietary system created for and by Hard Rock, blending advanced sound and vibration technology into the treatment table and surrounding environment,” says John P. Rees, senior vice president hotel operations at Hard Rock International.

“The Speaker Dome system, positioned overhead, works in harmony with bass transducers built into the table to deliver 360˚ audio immersion.”

Hard Rock Hotel Malta has 397 rooms and 11 swimming pools, including a guitar-shaped pool and a rooftop cantilever pool.

There are more than 10 restaurant, bar, lounge and club venues, including Hard Rock Cafe St. Julian’s Malta.

Architecture is by Darren Sciberras and MYGG. Internal design is by Astet, Elastic, Jestico and Archtube.

Hard Rock International now has venues in nearly 80 countries spanning more than 300 venues.
