Fairmont Cheshire The Mere to open in 2024

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a world-leading luxury hotel brand within the Accor group, has announced the signing and redevelopment of the historic The Mere in Cheshire, UK.

The project is in partnership with Dubai-based real estate development and investment firm, Select Group.

Overlooking The Mere lake on the outskirts of Knutsford, Cheshire, the 157-acre resort currently offers 81 guest rooms, an 18-hole championship golf course and wellness facilities.

On completion of a comprehensive restoration, redesign and expansion, Fairmont Cheshire The Mere will open in Q3 2024, boasting 120-bedrooms, including 27 suites. The resort will retain its golf course and further develop its wellness and culinary offerings.

The site dates back to 1086 and features in the Domesday Book. The property became a hotel and was in local ownership under the Boler family from 1984 until 2022. It was then acquired by UAE Select Group, helmed by Manchester-born Rahail Aslam.

Fairmont Cheshire The Mere joins Fairmont St Andrews and Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel in County Kildare, Ireland. The new country estate resort follows the opening of Fairmont Windsor Park at the start of 2022 and will be Accor’s fifth Fairmont hotel in the UK & Ireland, alongside the world-renowned The Savoy – A Fairmont Managed Hotel in London.

The appointed architects are Manchester-based Leach Rhodes Walker Architects. London-based Bergman Design House will lead on interior design, transforming the resort in close collaboration with Accor’s luxury Design & Technical Services team
