French hotel operator Cheval Blanc has opened its first urban hotel in Paris complete with a Dior Spa.

The hotel is housed inside La Samaritane, a former department store located on the banks of the Seine in a Belle Epoque Parisian landmark dating back to 1870. It was designed by celebrated New York-based architect Peter Marino and features 72 guest suites offering spectacular views over the Seine and across Paris.

“Peter has realised something that did not exist in Paris, he has reinvented the codes of luxury,” said Olivier Lefebvre, CEO of Cheval Blanc.

The River Seine-level pool is set with hand-crafted blue mosaics

The hotel’s facilities include four bars and restaurants, including Plenitude, a new gastronomic destination helmed by three Michelin starred chef Arnaud Donckele, as well as the Dior Spa.

Described as a ‘Dior cocoon’, the spa boasts six treatment suites designed with different motifs as a tribute to Christian Dior, each equipped with its own private bathroom, made from white onyx, and Gharieni treatment beds.

The Dior Spa offers more than 40 treatments including the brand's signature Sapphire Crystal Micro-Abrasion Booster

A comprehensive treatment menu offers more than 40 experiences such as the Sapphire Crystal Micro-Abrasion Booster treatment, a Dior signature featuring a vibrating facial tool set with sapphire particles to exfoliate the skin and encourage cell regeneration.

Other treatments  include the six-hand Couture Dream massage and the New Look Silhouette treatment. Named for Dior’s iconic New Look, popularised in the early 60s, the latter combines gentle exfoliation with targeted suction, tissue removal and rolling and kneading movements to have a slimming effect on the silhouette.

The hotel features 72 suites offering spectacular views of Paris

The spa also features its own exclusive fragrance developed by Dior perfumer François Demachy.

Additional facilities include a 30m swimming pool that has been built at the same level as the Seine, an architectural feat that took two years to achieve. The curved pool, designed to offer a calm oasis in the heart of the bustling city, is set with hand-crafted blue mosaics by Michael Mayer.

“Both teams at Cheval Blanc and Dior have worked hand in hand to create such a level of wellness and beauty experience for our guests,” said Lefebvre.
